We all have enough stress this time of year. If we’re not visiting, we’re getting visitors. Either way that puts you at a higher risk for drain issues.
All of us recall the ice storms about 4 years ago. Split pumps, sump pumps that couldn’t work, lack of electricity. It was a mess. Many of us who were away for the week came home to disaster. Many years when there are not any storms, drain mishaps happen over the holidays!

Some of our biggest problems tend to occur when we are home, and company is over. The extra cooking, extra showers, extra use of the bathrooms, all stress the systems. How about aunt Linda with the long hair? Remember when cousin Mark did 8 loads of laundry in a day.
Staying home or visiting friends, either way holidays seem to create an added risk. And don’t think the “big boys” aren’t aware of this. Call someone Christmas week, and all of a sudden, they are on double time all week. Some call it opportunity - we call it GREED!
From past experience, and reviewing our yearly trends, we have seen the largest amount of shower drain backups and laundry drain backups during the month of December, especially towards the end of the month. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. Not when it happens every year. From talking to customers, we find out “well it was just starting to run ever so slow, and then the company came, and boom!”. The sad part is, if you ever want your plumbing and drains to be running perfect, it’s when company is over.
