Petsafe Automatic Feeder

Petsafe Automatic Feeder

I picked up a Petsafe Automatic Feeder for my cat and I just love it! The Petsafe Automatic Feeder is a battery operated rotating dish. The dish has five compartments for food. As the feeder rotates, it exposes a new compartment filled with food. The feeder operates on a timer that you can program and 4 D size batteries. I wish it included an AC adaptor and used the batteries for backup power during an electrical outage but Petsafe didn't include that option.

I set mine to rotate every 4-5 hours. I could program it to rotate more or less often - it just depends on your needs. For example, you could set it to rotate just three times a day - perhaps 7 am, 3 pm and 11 pm. At that interval, your pet is being fed every 8 hours and the petmate could buy you a day and a half vacation. I use mine everyday so that my cat gets on a regular eating schedule. Plus, it spares me the task of getting up early every morning to feed the cat. I wouldn't recommend using wet food with the feeder. I use just dry food in it.

Some users have complained about their cat or dog being able to rotate the dish by themselves. I haven't had that problem at all with my cat. Also, you can remove the rotating dish in the feeder and it is dishwasher safe. I wished I had bought one of these years ago.
