Quikrete Natural Look Waterproofer |
Quikrete Natural Look Waterproofer
I bought a one gallon bottle of Quikrete Natural Look Waterproofer to seal my driveway. I paid about $25 for the bottle. I had just finished pressure washing my driveway. It seemed so exposed to the elements that I felt sealing it was the only way to go. I applied the Quikrete Sealer with a low pressure garden sprayer. The directions indicate that 1 gallon covers 75-150 square feet. I would have needed 6 gallons to do the whole driveway and sidewalk. Application was a bit tricky because the Quikrete sealer didn't spray evenly. I gave it a couple days to dry even though it needs less drying time. Water beaded up nicely on the driveway. |
Thompson's Water Seal |
Thompson's Water Seal
Since I had run out of the Quikrete Sealer, I went to another hardware and bought some Thompson's Water Seal (they didn't have the Quikrete here). I was able to spray on the Thompson's much more evenly and it appeared to cover double the area. It was also about $16 a gallon. So I got twice as much coverage for about half the price. A little test revealed that water beaded up better on the Thompson's Water Seal areas of the driveway. A thin coat is all you need. Thompson's Water Seal has a much stronger smell, and the fumes can't be too good for you. Quikrete seems a bit more environmentally friendly but Thompson's is much cheaper and seems to protect better. |
